Chippewa's Lose to Huskies 17-38

On Saturday, October 19, In Mount Pleasant, Michigan, 18,796 people watched in Kelly/Shorts Stadium as the Chippewa's started the 1st half of the game tied 14-14; before falling to the Huskies, leaving the homecoming game with a score of 38-17.


Northern Illinois has a record of (7-0,3-0) vs. Central Michigan’s record of (3-5, 2-2) so going into this game we knew it was going to be an interesting one to watch if it wasn’t a total blowout.


In the 1st quarter Rush, threw a 9 yard pass to Titus setting in motion 4 plays, 60 yards with a field goal by Coluzzi giving the Chippewa’s the lead. (7-0). The Huskies Lynch answered back with a 9 yard pass to Tommylee, opening up 11 plays, 75 yards. (7-7). Central’s Rush responded with a 36 yard pass from Andrew leading the Chippewa’s to a score of 14-7 into the second quarter.


The 2nd and 3rd quarter Northern Illinois took care of business for Central Michigan who appeared to have lost momentum. In the Second Quarter Northern Illinois gained 26 yards to tie Central Michigan 14-14 in the half.
Coming back onto the field for the Third Quarter it was a miserable display for Central Michigan. Northern Illinois Kicker, Tyler had a 34 yard field goal, putting the Huskies in the lead 17-14. NIU then gained 85 yards with 3:22 left in the 3rd quarter and again with the lead, 24-14.


Fizzling down to the 4th quarter CMU looked like a whole different team, but kicker Ron didn’t give up with a 38 yard field goal to give the Chippewa’s their final points of (17-24). NIU then responded with a touchdown from Jordon, bringing them to 31-17. Then NIU’s Stingily ran a 19 yard touchdown to give the No. 23 Northern Illinois a 38-17 victory against Central Michigan.

Central Michigan will be on the road for two-games as they travel to Muncie, Ind., for a nationally televised MAC match-up with Ball State (6-1, 3-0) on Wednesday, Nov. 6. 8 p.m and will be available on ESPN2.
